Dr. Peter A. Soukas is the Director of Vascular Medicine and the Interventional Peripheral Vascular laboratory at The Miriam Hospital & RI Hospitals in Providence, RI. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is also the founder and Director of the Brown Vascular and Endovascular Medicine fellowship program, training the next generation of endovascular cardiologists.
He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts; completed his internship and residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and completed cardiology and peripheral vascular medicine fellowships at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts and an interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society of Vascular Medicine, the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions, and the American College of Physicians. He is board certified in cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, and endovascular medicine, and is certified in non-invasive vascular lab interpretation.
Dr. Soukas’ clinical research interests include carotid stenting, intravascular lithotripsy, femoropopliteal stent-grafts, and the interventional treatment of both arterial and venous peripheral vascular disease. He has been a site principal investigator on over 170 clinical trials, including 27 carotid trials, and was the global PI for the RELINE MAX study. He is a national co-PI for the upcoming Shockwave Medical transfemoral and Contego Medical post-approval carotid trials. He has delivered over 300 invited presentations nationally and internationally with dozens of peer reviewed publications.
