Professor Andrew Holden is Director of Northern Region Interventional Radiology Service and is based at Auckland City Hospital as well as Professor of Radiology at the University of Auckland. Dr Holden is a member of IRSA (Interventional Society of Australasia) and is a Past-President of the Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APSCVIR). He holds the EBIR (European Board of Interventional Radiology) Diploma. Professor Holden is currently Co-Director of the Charing Cross Symposium.
Dr Holden is the author of over 140 articles in peer reviewed journals and five book chapters. His interests include vascular interventional procedures including advanced endovascular aneurysm repair techniques and revascularization in claudication and critical limb ischaemia.
To date, Dr Holden has been involved in over 100 medical device trials, many “first in human” and many as Principal Investigator. He co-directs the Vascular Intervention Research Unit at Auckland Hospital.
In 2018, Dr Holden was recognized for his contribution to vascular and endovascular intervention by being awarded an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) medal.
