Margaret C. Tracci, M.D., J.D., is board-certified in general and vascular surgery. Her interests include the open surgical and endovascular treatment of aortic and peripheral vascular disease, vascular disorders in athletes, and health policy. Dr. Tracci graduated from Stanford University, then earned a dual MD/JD degree the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She went on to train in general and vascular surgery at the University of Virginia. During this time, she gained important policy experience working in the United States Senate as a Health Policy Fellow and Health Counsel.
Dr. Tracci joined the UVA faculty in 2010 and is currently a tenured Professor of Surgery. She serves as Program Director for the Fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and President of the Clinical Staff. Dr. Tracci currently serves the American College of Surgeons as the Medical Director for Surgeon Engagement and as a member of the Health Policy and Advocacy Group (HPAG) and the Society for Vascular Surgery as Chair of the Society for Vascular Surgery Policy and Advocacy Council, Vice Chair of the SVS Physician Payment Task Force and past Chair of the Government Relations Committee.
